Think of Golf Solitaire like real golf: it looks easy, but one bad move can ruin your whole score. Fast, addictive, and wildly punishing if you don’t plan ahead—this is solitaire with a competitive edge. Let’s get you tee’d up.
One 52-card deck, no Jokers.
A bit of luck.
A lot of focus.
Deal 7 columns of 5 face-up cards each.
That’s 35 cards total, all visible.
The remaining 17 cards form your draw pile, placed face-down.
Flip the top card of the draw pile to form your waste pile—this is your “active card.”
That’s it. No suits. No building by color. Just play cards up or down and hope for the best.
Clear all 35 cards from the tableau.
You do this by moving cards from the tableau to the waste pile in a specific order:
👉 Only cards one rank higher or lower than the top waste card can be played.
Ace wraps to King or 2 (A–K–A).
Suits don’t matter.
Once you’re out of legal moves, flip the next card from the draw pile to the top of the waste.
You only get one pass through the draw pile. No second chances. 🫣
Let’s say the waste pile shows a 7:
You can play a 6 or 8 from the tableau.
If the 8 is played next, your new active card becomes 8 → you can now play 7 or 9.
And so on.
You keep going until you run out of valid moves or clear the board.
Each card left on the tableau when the draw pile runs out = +1 stroke.
Your goal? Finish the “course” (a single round) with as few strokes as possible.
Some versions track over 9 or 18 hands—just like real golf.
Choose the route with the longest visible run.
If you can go 5 → 4 → 3 or 5 → 6 → 7 → 6, choose the longer chain.
Don’t burn high-value draw cards early.
That Queen might help later—use tableau options when possible.
Uncover deeper cards.
Prefer moves that reveal cards underneath—more options = more chances.
Aces and Kings are traps.
They have just one adjacent value. If you burn a King early, you might not connect a whole chain later.
Plan for dead ends.
Before moving, look at what’s beneath the card you’re about to play. Will it open the board or box you in?
TriGolf / TriLink – Play across three "holes" (rounds) and aim for the lowest total score.
Golf Rush – Add a timer for chaos mode.
Jokers Wild – Throw in two Jokers that act as any card—life-saving or run-extending madness.
Some apps reward you with combo points for long chains. If you’re playing for score, always aim for those 5+ streaks—they feel amazing and make you look like a card ninja.
